DAY 14

Hi All,

WOW ! What a day we were blessed with. The weather was the best yet. They had predicted 60% rain all day,
but by nine o'clock the sky was turning blue and it seemed to follow us wherever we went. It was about 60 degrees.
Today we travel the Oregon Coast going north, but before we took off we could not resist going back to the redwood forest
one last time.

We had beakfast at a restaurant named Northwoods. This sign was hanging above our table and we could not resist taking
a picture of it for all of you who have a sense of humor there at Northwoods.

Back to the Redwood Forest.

We knew these trees were tall, but we just found a sign that told us how tall. Many reach the height of over 360 feet.
That's like a 36-story building. Some of them are over 2000 years old.

The kissing bridge.

The girls clearing the way.

This place is like a rain forest. All the plants are huge.

It's a place you just can't get enought of, and have to see it to believe it.

As we leave this enchanted forest, we are greeted by this little squirrel that says
"You all come back now !"

We head up the coast and step into God's world.

The clouds are breaking up and it's starting to clear, as the sea is pounding the shore.

Down on the beach I wrestle with a sea monster.

A western bluejay lands in the thicket.

The smell of the sea, the pounding surf, and the sea gulls everywhere.

Always someone looking for a handout.

I feel like the pied piper, every where I go they follow me.

Up close they are kinda cute.

We had intended to travel about 250 miles today but scenes like this would stop us every time.

We only got about a hundred miles in before we had to pack it in for the night.
Could you girls back up just a little further?

The road follows the coast and the state parks along it are about 20 miles apart.

You could spend days on this stretch of road.

We took over 200 pictures just today alone so we are going to divide this into two parts today.
See more of today tomorrow.
This looks like a good place to end Part One.

See you then.
