DAY 8

Hi All, Today we head northeast to Carlsbad, New Mexcio.
As we head across Texas we see our first oil well.
You would think gas would be cheap out here but we have seen it up to $3.29 per gallon.

We drive into a dried-up seabed. All you need is an ocean.

As you can see wind is gusting out here.

Prilly says that this mountain looks like a giant cauldron,
the way the clouds are blowing out of it.

Entering Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

Just inside the park we see this red-tailed hawk.

After driving around in the park in the clouds,
we decide that there is not much we are going to see,
I did get a picture of these wild flowers.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

It is a 1.5 mile walk down from the main entrance, to the main room,
and about 1.5 miles around the big room.

The size of this cave can not be described.

It's like the grand canyon.

You have to see it in person to experience the vast size of it.

Millions of years of God's art work is in this cave.

Carlsbad Cavern is one of over 300 limestone caves in a fossil reef
laid down by an inland sea 250 to 280 million years ago.

Standing under the lion's tail.

It was so great because we had the whole place to ourselves.

The nice thing is that now we get to take an elevator to the surface.

Finally out into the light and fresh air.

Shifting plains, heading north tomorrow toward Colorado.
See you tomorrow
Ralph, Prilly & Sue
