DAY 13

Today cold and rainy about 40 degrees.
We left Cody and headed to South Dakota, 25 miles outside of Cody. On 14 there
was nothing but field in all directions.

Then finally, a town came into view. I only had time to snap one picture because
of the 3 second delay on my camera.

Now this sign makes you wantta go eat there.

The scenery changed so fast on this highway.
You could get lost in this guys back yard.

You see what I mean. What a butte.

I think it's time for a tradein.

Next we enter into Big Horn Canyon.

This is a place where dinasors roamed.

Still going up over the Big Horn Mountains at about 6000 ft.

At 8000 feet the rain turns to snow.

At 8500 feet the temp drops to 27 degrees.

It's a winter wonderland but it keep piling up on the road and the driving is getting hairy.

Finally we go through Granite Pass at 9335 feet.

We get over the mountains and pass this.
Do you think she knows Dirty Annie ?

A herd of pronghorn deer by the road.

We land in Spearfish South Dakota. After finding a room we head 12 miles to Deadwood South Dakota
where Wild Bill Hickok was shot.

An old western town that is still booming.

This is Saloon Number 10. On Aug 2 1876 Will Bill Hickok was playing cards and was shot in the back
by Jack McCall. When he slumped forward his hand was exposed and he was holding aces and eights,
which from that day forward would be know as the dead mans hand.

They captured Jack McCall just down the street and after a fair trial he was hung.

Tomorrow Mt Rushmore See you then,
Ralph & Prilly
