Day Seven

Anouther beautiful day. We went 55 miles into Utah by boat on lake Powell to see anouther of the 7 natural wonders of the world. The Grand Canyon was the first one we saw, can you guess what this one is?
If you guessed the Rainbow Bridge you are right. The only way to get to it is by boat because of its remote location.

Lake Powel is 186 miles long and has over 1900 miles of shore line and is over 500 ft deep and holds a hell of a bunch of water. While on lake Powell you can explore upto 96 major Canyons but you better have a boat.

This one butte lacks only 2 ft of being 1 mile in height and can be seen for miles around.

Heading up Rainbow Canyon

This was our destination Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Like all things out here you can't believe how big it is. From the base to the top of the arch is 290ft and spands 275ft across the river. The top of the arch is 42ft thick and 33ft wide. To put this in perspective you could put the Stature of Liberty under the arcn.
The closest they will let you get to it is about 100yards.

Looking back down the cayon that the Rainbow Bridge is in.

Here we are 1/4 mile away from it so we can get it into the picture. If you look real close
you will see someone standing on the lookout just off Prilly's elbow. Keep in mind
they are still 100 yds in front of it.

One last shot see the man on the shore line.

When we got back we had to do our laundry..Bummer
Going to stay in Page one more day alot to see hear.

Chow for now
