DAY 12

Don't go to Yosemite on Memorial Day weekend.
The wait to get in the park was an hour or more.
We decided to head out to Hetchy Hetchy Dam in a remote part of the park.

On the way into the park we hiked over to an overlook of Cascade Falls.

El Capitan, See the mountain climers on the face ?

Now you can.

These guys have more guts than I do.

At the top of Cascade Falls.

At the bottom the water is really churning.

Sue bracing herself so this isn't her last trip.

On highway 120 looking through the Valley Portal.

Bridal Falls from Valley Portal.

O'Shaughnessy Reservoir at the Hetchy Hetchy Dam.

Prilly & Sue looking at Tucculala and Wapama Falls.

Pic of the day. We had to hike about a mile to capture this shot.

On our hike back all was in bloom.

We found out at the ranger station that it was best to take the long
way home around the park so we did not have to fight the park traffic.

What he failed to tell us was that the road was like a ribbon with no guard rails.
But the view was great.

If your're planning a trip to Yosemite we recommend staying in Oakhurst at the Shilo Inn.
The Ol' Kettle Restaurant next door is a great place to eat. Good food and prices
and very convenient.

As you can see, we are not going to make it to all our destinations this trip. Maybe next time.
Need to head to Phoenix so we can leave for home on Tuesday.

Tomorrow we will start heading back.

See you then,
Ralph , Prilly & Sue
