We get an early start because our GPS says 8 hours. It tell us that the
closest way there is to go to North Carolina and head west over the montain and down into Gatlinburg.
Tuesday Day 1
After a traffic jam near Atlanta we finaly cross into North Carolina
How we miss the mountains.
In Cherokee we head west into the Smokey Mountaim National Park, and up over the mountain to Tennessee.
We spot some Elke in a field next to the road.
Before long we drop into Gatlinburg
We are staying the first three nights on the river at River Terrace Resort. Our room over looks the river
This was the first time we had ever stayed here and found the room to be nice,
but the bath looked like it had not been updated in years.
We did get a bottom floor and the porch out over the river was great.
After getting settled in we eat dinner at the resorts restaurant and was not impressed.
The menu was limited and the prices were high. After dinner we headed over to the
Smokey Mountain Candy store to pick up that famous taffey we love,
and then headed back to our room and tucked in for the night.
