Day 15 Wed Aug 6

Hi all,

Today is our last day before we start heading home,
so we decided to make the most of it. We are awakened by the
songs of the cockatoos just outside of our window.

Before we leave this tropical paradise, we decide to take a boat to Whitehaven beach.
It's rated as one of the top ten beaches you must see before you die.

We board a boat called Reef Rider.

Soon we are on our way.

First stop is a beach that has a reef just off its shore so that you can snorkel.

Our boat pulls up and drops us off for an hour so we can snorkel.

What you can't see in this picture is a stiff breeze and the water is only about 72 degrees.

We all chicken out except Sue, she is determined.

WE told her with that getup on she will blend right in with all the other sealife.

Click her to see clip.

She looks like she is going to spear them.

Finally she is in that cold water.

The joke is on us because it looks like this as she swims around and takes pictures.

The coral is beautiful.

Brain coral.

She had a hard time getting pictures of all the little fish.

Prilly is taken by the birds.

We then cross over to Whitehaven Beach which is known for its fine sand.

Writing in the sand.

The sand is very much like our sand in Destin Fl.

I think they are wishing that they were the only people here.

Our Florida coast does not have the rocks like here.

That water is cold and I am catching the spray.

What a place to own a boat.

We get back to Hamiton Island and grab some lunch and get to watch this girl lose hers to the fast birds.
He stole it right off her table.

Then they divide up the loot.

They don't like sharing.
He says it's mine, go get your own.

Click her to see clip.

We hop in our golf carts and head for the top of the hill overlooking the bay.

We find a great place to eat our lunch.

We get our last group photo before we have to go our separate ways.

We go back to the motel, grab our bags and head to the airport.

It's a very small airport with just one runway.

The tower is this little building on a cliff.

In minutes we are in the air.

We touch down in Sydney about 7PM and head for a hotel next to the airport.

We have to be at the airport by 7:30AM tomorrow morning to head home.

If you ever make it to Australia make sure you check out the Wihtsundays area.

See you all tomorrow for the conclusion of our trip.

Love Prilly, Ralph, Sue, Amanda, and Jesse
